ATSF 142 at Bakersfield

ATSF 142 is in a train headed over the Tehachapis, shown here departing the former Santa Fe yard at Bakersfield, California in 1997. It is painted in Santa Fe’s famous warbonnet scheme, but is now part of the BNSF system.

ATSF 142 is an EMD GP60M (#886063-43) built in July 1990.

BNSF 706 at East Auburn

BNSF 706 is at East Auburn, Washington heading east over Stampede Pass with a train of grain empties on Oct. 18, 2005.

BNSF 706 is a GE C44-9W (#49989) built in June 1997. BNSF briefly retained the Santa Fe “Super Fleet” (Warbonnet) colors and even left the “Santa Fe” name on some units, though they were branded with large “BNSF” initials on their flanks.

BNSF 723 (C44-9W) at Napavine

BNSF 723 still wears the Santa Fe warbonnet on a northbound freight manifest at Napavine, Washington, on Oct. 2, 2009.

BNSF 723 is a GE C44-9W (DASH9-44CW) built in July 1997 (#50006) for BNSF but delivered in Santa Fe paint with the large BNSF on its flanks.
