Photos now available on SmugMug

I am gradually posting my photo collection on a photo sharing site called SmugMug. For those of you that purchase prints from me at swap meets, these are also available for purchase on the site, including the popular snapshot sizes! I never have the full collection with me at any swap meet – it’s just too hard to check to see which ones are missing. It’s also expensive (and time-consuming) to have hundreds of prints made and only sell a small percentage at any given show.
Please check out the site at djcooley.smugmug.com and leave a note with your comments.

Feather River work train

On my first railfan trip to the Feather River, I managed to follow the UP 4351 East through the Canyon from Oroville to Keddie Wye on March 15, 2009. Weather was marginal by California standards, but just about what I’d expect back home in Washington. UP 4351 East was an interesting train to watch since it was not your typical train full of double stacks, pigs or grain hoppers. It was a work train with all kinds of equipment for establishing a base camp for a work crew far from home.

1:23 Coming through cut below James
1:59 Approaching Pulga
2:23 Meet westbound double stack at Merlin
5:12 Crossing the river at Tobin
5:38 Honeymoon Tunnels
6:47 Serpentine Canyon
7:09 Keddie Wye
